Rocket's Ramblings
October 29 , 2009 - Kalamazoo, Michigan
I am writing this message to everyone; especially race drivers, their families, and more importantly, their spouses. I hope you take what I am about to say to heart, as the words come from someone who has learned a valuable lesson the hard way.
Men, there is nothing on this earth worth more than the companionship and love of a good woman; one that loves you and looks up to you, and is their to help you, as your mate the rest of your days. You need to honor and cherish her always. You need to treat her as the weaker vessel, and not take her for granted.
Spending all your time and money on racing, and race cars will gain you nothing. I have seen too many men spend all their time and money on everything except their families, and then when they are older, and racing has gone it's course, they have nothing left; No family, No racing, No friends, NOTHING!
Take the time to love your wife and children; spend time with them. Tell your wife you love her every day of your life. Talk to her, and then love her some more. If she does or says something that hurts or offends you, love her some more. If you do something that hurts of offends her, love her some more, but be ready to give her some space as well.
Women, a man can be tough as nails on the outside and take a lot of pain physically, but when a woman he loves says something about him that cuts him inside, he will turn into a bowl of jelly. This is not a good thing for women to do, as it will hurt a man more than any physical hurt ever could, and it will stay with him for a long time. Once this is happens, your man will have to learn to trust you all over again, and the more it happens, the longer it will take for the trust to return.
If you love your spouse or significant other, you need to talk to each other openly and honestly. Do not jump to conclusions and become hurtful or controlling because that will just shut each other down; especially us men.
If you have already started down this road with your spouse of significant other, then you both need to go to a good counselor.
I hope you heed my words, both of you. I don't want anyone else to go through what I have gone through. I don't want my friends or family to destroy their relationships.
May God Bless You and Keep You Happy, Healthy, Wealthy and Wise. Keep it between the ditches and I hope to see you were the stars come out.
