Our record since the beginning of the 1987 season is as follows:

Kalamazoo, Galesburg, and Mottville Michigan Speedways

1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th 12th 13th 14th 15th 16th 17th 18th 19th 20th
48 35 51 40 23 22 12 15 14 19 4 10 2 3 8 9 3 8 4 5

Our record indicates that we are in the top 5 over 58% of the time. This record has been accomplished only through the support of our crew, our sponsors, our fans, our friends and our families.

In 1987 I won my first feature races at Galesburg Speedway and three feature events at Kalamazoo Speedway. We also set fast time at Kalamazoo Speedway during the Mid Season Championship races, much to the surprise of those people leading in the points race as we didn't get started until many races into the season.

At the end of 1987 we completely rebuilt our race car, and in 1988 we won 14 feature races. We also broke our own track qualifying record 6 different times at Galesburg Speedway, which resulted in the nickname "Rocket" being pinned on me by the promoters of Galesburg Speedway. A few weeks after the announcer at Galesburg  began introducing me as Roger " The Rocket" Hensley, I broke the track record at Kalamazoo Speedway and Mick Shuler, the announcer their started calling me "The Rocket" as well (He had obviously picked it up while watching the races at Galesburg Speedway.). 1988 was our best year as we won two track championships at Galesburg and Kalamazoo Speedways. In 1994 we won the Championship points race again at Galesburg Speedway.

In 1997 we won the Go-Cart series championship at our local go-cart track here in southwest Michigan. Racing the go-carts was done more on a bet than on purpose. I was planning on taking a break from racing in order to clear some land to begin building a new race shop. After being pestered for a month I finally agreed to race in the series when one of my co-workers said that the only reason we were so successful racing stock cars is because we had the best equipment. (not true, we just used what we had more effectively than most of the other teams). Anyway, I agreed to join the series and did so well that I won the championship even though I had missed the last day due to being out of town. My friends and co-workers didn't ask me to compete against them again.
